We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused professional to join our team in a commercial refuse collection role. This position is responsible for the safe operation of a commercial vehicle, efficient collection of waste and recyclable materials, and providing courteous service to customers along assigned routes. The ideal candidate takes pride in working outdoors, follows established procedures, and contributes to a clean and well-maintained community.Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial refuse truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Complete assigned collection routes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collect, transport, and unload refuse, recycling, and other materials as directed.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records related to routes, pickups, and service issues as required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, supervisors, and team members.
- Follow proper lifting, loading, and material-handling practices to reduce risk of injury.
- Keep the vehicle and work area clean and organized.
- Support additional operational tasks as needed to meet service demands.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle and work assignment.
- Clean driving record and ability to safely operate commercial equipment.
- Experience in refuse collection, trucking, or a related driving role preferred.
- Ability to work early mornings, occasional overtime, and in varying weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and complete assigned routes efficiently.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, enter and exit the vehicle and move materials as part of daily duties.
Preferred Attributes
- Previous experience with commercial collection routes or waste management operations.
- Knowledge of vehicle inspection procedures and preventive maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with route-based service operations and local area navigation.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
