Routing Optimization and Efficiency Supervisor

The Routing Optimization and Efficiency Supervisor will be responsible for management of the routing team for both commercial and residential collection routes. Using management skills and computerized processes, it will guide the minimization of time spent and miles driven. The position will be responsible for the analytic review and audits to determine the success of the optimized route.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret a map and the ability to accurately geocode locations.
  • Previous route optimization/efficiency experience in a related industry (preferred)
  • Previous experience with ArcGIS software. (preferred)
  • Significant experience with truck routing software & Microsoft Excel (preferred)
  • Excellent time management, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple functional groups for successful completion of tasks.
  • Clean driving record and ability to be insured by the Company’s Automobile Insurance.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Must be able to direct and manage a group of 4 or more routing team members, including issuing discipline, performance appraisals and setting goals for team members.
  • Must effectively manage and direct the activities of routing team members from remote locations and ensure efficiency goals and routes are properly determined and carried out.
  • Work with the Operations Manager, Customer Service Managers, and staff to identify needs and issues with current routes and new business.
  • Exercise discretion to minimize both time and miles driven by using computerized process and field experience.
  • Exercises independent judgment to create and implement routing solutions for waste/recycling routes.
  • Exercise independent judgment to build and maintain routing scenarios for maximum efficiency.
  • Analyze routes to make cost-saving recommendations.
  • Conducts audits (field and data) and time studies on routes and processes.
  • Maintain routing database to  ensure accurate goals for each route.
  • Acts as liaison between Operations and Routing Teams.
  • Exercise discretion to analyze route productivity to determine success of optimized routes.
  • Mast data for geocoding and communicating data changes or additions. 
  • Ensures routing teams are using appropriate forms and approvals for optimization projects.
